Design is the art of making smart, effective decisions that create a desirable outcome. We use a set of 11 Design Principles to help guide our decisions. We began with the Ten Principles of Good Design by Industrial Designer Dieter Rams which we continue to adapt for our own purposes.
- Good design is innovativeâIt does not automatically follow convention.
- Good design makes a product usefulâIt does work for people.
- Good design is aesthetically beautifulâIt makes your heart skip a beat.
- Good design makes a product understandableâAnyone can use it instantly.
- Good design is unobtrusiveâIt lets the content, learner, instructors shine.
- Good design is honestââI know exactly who designed this!â
- Good design is long-lastingâHot new trends donât worry us.
- Good design is thorough down to the last detailâWe care about it all.
- Good design is good for everyoneâAll people and the living things around them.
- Good design is as little design as possibleâIf it doesnât add value, itâs not going in the design.
